She typically plays the good girl on the big screen but does newlywed Reese Witherspoon realize that she's commiting a fashion crime? And, not one of the innocuous E! Entertainment kind?

Witherspoon, in all of her adorableness, has been spotted on the streets of Los Angeles lately carrying a Chloe Paraty python and leather handbag that's illegal to be sold in California.

Under California Penal Code Section 653o it's against the law to import python -- which are considered endangered -- into the state with intent to sell. So, that means that Witherspoon would've had to buy the $4,000 purse somewhere else and brought it into Cali.

Whether or not it's illegal for her to carry the thing, do you think it's mean to kill snakes for bags? Or boots? Or ...
