Reggae Singer Wayne Hamilton and Girlfriend Gunned Down
Reggae singer Wayne Hamilton (also known as Captain Barkey) and the woman he was having an affair with for five years were gunned down at a New York City hotel.
Hamilton's killer is the man the reggae singer mocked in his song called Nah Lef Joe.
Hamilton and girlfriend Tracy Bennett were shot by Joseph Kernizan outside the Holiday Motel in the Bronx, with Bennett reportedly begging for her life before she was killed.

In Hamilton's 2010 song, Nah Lef Joe, released in 2010, he sang of sleeping with a woman, with the lyrics, "She tell me she nah lef Joe."
Bennett's longtime friend noted, "It's a song about her not leaving Joe. He was begging her to leave Joe for a long time."
Bennett and Hamilton were leaving the motel when Kernizan confronted them. Bennett was heard by witnesses saying, "Don't do it! Don't do it!"
