Something glittery this way comes. Adam Lambert, singer, actor and runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol, is reportedly in talks to join the star-search show next year.

Lambert, 30, is at the center of the Idol rumor mill and has reportedly been in talks for over a month now to return to his old show as a judge.
"He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start," a source told E! News. "He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him."

As for the other judges, their star power is no protection from getting the possible boot. Jennifer Lopez's hefty price tag and diva reputation, Steven Tyler's waning popularity and Randy Jackson's staleness all make for attractive cuts.
Who knows, maybe the 12th season of American Idol will just be Lambert and Ryan Seacrest. Then again, half of the show's budget would be spent on hair gel alone.
