Rihanna Pays Tribute To 6-Year-Old Cancer Victim
Rihanna remembers superstar Jasmina Anema, who passed in January.
When six-year-old Jasmina Anema was alive, she loved Rihanna so much that the one thing she wanted to give President Obama when she met him was a signed Rihanna CD. However, as we reported, little Jasmina passed away on January 27. Now Rihanna's making it clear that she was a Jasmina fan in return.
During her trip to Miami to perform at VH1's Super Bowl weekend kickoff, Rihanna made time to attend a Pepsi-sponsored event to raise money for the world's largest non-profit marrow donor center, DKMS Americas. Rihanna told the crowd there how precious she remembers Jasmina Anema to be: "She was a very free, fun spirited little girl, full of energy, always happy, always energetic ... I always remember she wouldn't sit still. She was always running around, always had a smile on her face."
Rihanna had the chance to meet Jasmina in the weeks before she died, and the pop star told the DKMS charity attendees how important it is to raise marrow donation awareness: "If we win, this would really help us recruit 4,000 individual donors." People.com reports that Rihanna also educated the crowd on a New York City mom, Lisa Gershowitz Flynn, who desperately needs a bone marrow transplant.
