Rihanna's dad is a piece of work.

Daddy Ronald Fenty tells Heat Magazine in a new interview that Rihanna has weight issues and that ... brace yourself ... he forgives Chris Brown for abusing his daughter.

It's kind of sad, considering Rihanna could use her father's support when it comes to her relationship with Brown.

Fenty says of Brown: "Chris is a nice guy and everybody's entitled to make mistakes in their life. God knows how many I've made."

How many dads are going to say that about the guy that hit their daughter?

As for Rihanna's decision to collaborate with Brown on two songs, Fenty explains, "She's her own woman now.''

And then there's the bit where he calls his daughter fat, noting that when he saw her in August: "I actually thought she was a little fat the last time I saw her. When I saw her at this year's Grammys, I thought she was back to her normal size. I used to joke with her, ‘Robyn, you're getting too fat.' But I think she's fine. I think she looked excellent, as everyone saw, at the Grammys. She's dieting, she's working out."

Wow. Joking about your daughter getting too fat? That's not damaging at all.

Not surprisingly, Rihanna and Fenty weren't speaking for two years and only started to communicate in 2010. Fenty said, "Maybe we're not as close as we were when she was growing up here ... But we are blood, we do not stay angry."
