Robert Pattinson Goes from Vampire to the Mafia

This vampire could join the Mafia

We all know and love (and are obsessed) with Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, leading vampire in the Twilight saga. But will he eventually be able to break out of his vampire role for other parts? One director thinks so.

Harvey Weinstein wants Robert Pattinson for his new movie. And the movie doesn't have anything to do with vampires. In fact, if Robert were to join the cast, it would be in the leading role of Mafia gangster Joe Gallo.

Could Robert Pattinson do it? Actually, we can definitely see him as a Mafia gangster. However, Tom Folsom, the author of The Mad Ones: Crazy Joe Gallo and the Revolution at the Edge of the Underworld says he wants to see Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role. Leo would definitely make a fabulous Mafia gangster. But really? Robert Pattinson would bring a whole new crowd into see the movie who otherwise probably wouldn't.

Weinstein is a big Robert Pattinson fan after having met him in Cannes, where Robert helped raise money for AIDS research by auctioning off kisses. Weinstein says, "I made him kiss girls in Cannes. He's the most charming, wonderful young man. He really cared about the charity, and that's not an easy thing to do. That's a sweet, sweetheart thing to do. And then we got two bids."

The Twilight series isn't going to last forever (I know, we're all crying), so what roles would you like to see Robert Pattinson in next?
