Robert Pattinson Talks About His Irresistible Underwear
Rob's "authentic" knickers help him into character.
Robert Pattinson's been blown away by the set effects for "Water for Elephants." With the movie about to hit theaters late this month, Rob reveals how amazingly the set felt like a real 1930s circus...but the wildest detail he's revealing is what he was wearing down under...as in, his totally "authentic" underoos.
Robert Pattinson is never shy to talk about his most private details -- why, on the very set of "Water for Elephants," Rob admitted to getting a cold and accidentally wiping his nose all over Reese Witherspoon's wig during a love scene.

So it's no shock Rob's spilling the details about the unmentionable pieces of his costume. Rob told reporters this week that what he had going on underneath his clothes actually contributed to his ability to play smitten veterinarian Jacob Jankowski: "Authentic period underpants do actually help," Rob said. "I actually wore them every single day. Jacqueline West, the costume designer, was unbelievable. Almost everything was real. Every pair of jeans was all from the '20s and '30s. It was crazy."

Robert Pattinson backpedaled a little on the undergarment design details to talk about how genuine the entire set of "Water for Elephants" looked as well:
"I've never worked on anything so detailed. There was an embankment with a train track on the top. All the trailers were on one side, and then the circus world was on the other. Once you walked over the tracks, there would be a camera, but that was the only thing from the 21st Century ... You could stand on the tracks and look over at everything, and you were in the '30s ... Jack Fisk, the production designer, used authentic pegs and the ropes. Every single thing which built the world was all totally real."
