Rush Limbaugh's Haiti Comments: 'Really Stupid,' Says White House
Limbaugh implies your tax dollars are enough for Haiti.
Rush Limbaugh may be the most controversial figure in talk radio, and the Haiti earthquake tragedy has him making some of his craziest talk ever. Limbaugh's Haiti earthquake comment that Americans "already give to Haitian relief - it's called the income tax" has elicited major criticism -- especially from the White House.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs stepped up to say that Limbaugh's comment is "really stupid"...and now Rush Limbaugh is back-pedaling. He's insisting he didn't mean that Americans shouldn't give to Haitian earthquake relief; Limbaugh says he was simply encouraging Americans to donate through private channels like the American Red Cross instead of through the U.S. government at WhiteHouse.gov.
But Limbaugh has also noted that the Haiti earthquake is "playing right into the hands of" the Obama administration, suggesting that "this is what [Obama] lives for. He lives for serving those in misery."
Rush Limbaugh's seemingly insensitive words are right up there with televangelist Pat Robertson's Haiti earthquake comments. Think before you speak, fellas...even righties can't believe what's being said.
Meanwhile, here are some ways you can give to disaster relief in Haiti. (And according to the New York Times, Americans are only donating $2 per person...let's go people! Giving feels good! Just ask Brad and Angelina, who donated $1 million for the Haiti earthquake rescue efforts.)
