Sandra Bullock Wins Best Actress and Worst Actress
A new record.
It's been a year of ups and downs for Sandra Bullock. At Sunday night's Academy Awards she was honored as the Best Actress of the year... only one day after being named Worst Actress of the year at the Razzies.
Bullock made history Sunday night when she became the only actor to ever win both a best actor and worst actor award in the same year.
A day before the Oscars she showed up at the 10th annual Razzies to accept the award for Worst Actress for her work in All About Steve. The film was panned by critics and generally agreed upon as one of the worst movies of the year, yet Bullock managed to keep a sense of humor -- she walked on stage pulling a little wagon full of DVDs of the movie.
But now the Hollywood darling has redeemed herself. Bullock was named Best Actress at the 82nd annual Academy Awards, beating out others like Meryl Steep (Julie & Julia), Helen Mirren (The Last Station), and newcomer Gabourey Sidibe (Precious).
"Did I really earn this, or did I just wear y'all down?" she said in her acceptance speech. "I have so many people to thank for my good fortune in this lifetime and this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I know."
The 45 year-old actress ended with a heartfelt dedication to all the "moms that take care of their babies and their children no matter where they come from. Those moms and parents never get thanked."
Then, backstage, Bullock said she was glad to have received both awards.
"I had the best time at the Razzie," she said. "It's the great equalizer. No one lets me get too full of myself."
