Sandra Bullock to Commemorate Hurricane Katrina
Katrina five-year anniversary drawing celebs.
It's hard to believe that the devastations surrounding Hurricane Katrina happened half a decade ago on this very weekend. Big-name celebrities are turning out to tout the progress in the City of New Orleans since the Katrina chaos...but for Sandra Bullock, Katrina hit extra close to home.
People.com has reported that Sandra Bullock will join New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu for the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the new $700,000 health clinic that Bullock helped fund at Warren Easton Charter High School, a historical school to which Bullock has reportedly donated an undisclosed amount to its $4 million reconstruction project.
Sandra Bullock keeps one of her four homes in New Orleans (she also has one in Austin, Texas and a reported two in Los Angeles) and will sit down with Matt Lauer for a "Today" interview next Tuesday, August 31, to discuss -- among other topics -- what New Orleans means to her and how the city has changed since Hurricane Katrina struck.

It's said Bullock bought her Big Easy abode in 2005, just after Katrina and her wedding to Jesse James (both, unfortunately, disasters). Bullock's eight-month-old adopted son, Louis Bardo Bullock, happens to be a native of New Orleans as well.
"This is a cause that is extremely important to her," Bullock's representative is quoted saying about the actress's investment in the Warren Easton Charter High School project. The rep also called Warren Easton and the city of New Orleans "a school and a city that have become vital parts of her life."
