Two Ohio sheriffs to be tried for sneaking private info.

We've all heard how thrilled Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick were that their twin daughters were born last summer. But their joy was tainted with a serious criminal situation that compromised the safety of their chosen surrogate in Ohio -- and potentially could have threatened the health of their daughters.

The police chiefs invaded the property of the surrogate's Martins Ferry, Ohio home last May in order to sell her personal belongings to a paparazzo. The incident raised major concerns about the trustworthiness of law authorities, but more pointedly, it put the Parker-Broderick family on personal alert. Sarah Jessica Parker, 44 stated after the police were arrested, "On a daily basis, on an hourly basis, I am greatly concerned for [our surrogate's] health and safety and the safe delivery of our children."

Since the attempted break-in, names of the parties involved have been released. The two police chiefs are Barry P. Carpenter, 40 and Chad M. Dojack, 29. The two attempted to steal ultrasound photos, a poem, photos, legal documents regarding the surrogacy agreement and a cell phone containing a photo of a belly cast. It's said they met with a freelance photographer last May to make the arrangements for the burglary of the home of Michelle Ross, whose name has finally come out to the press. Ross gave birth to the Parker-Broderick twins at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry on June 22, one month after the fiasco took place.

Carpenter's trial started Monday and if found guilty of the charges against him (burglary, receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence), he could face up to 21 years in prison and a $45,000 fine. Dojack, who's facing lesser charges, will be tried in January.
