Sarah Palin and Oprah Top Fake Feuds of 2008
Facebook, turkeys, and Twitter fall prey to lame celebrity attacks.
2008 was the year of the faux-feud, the bogus battle, the mediocre mêlée. Whether fueled by stupidity or insensitivity, these showdowns were totally not as awesome as they could’ve been.
Lindsay Lohan vs. Facebook
Apparently LiLo doesn’t have enough room in her life for two social networking sites. Earlier this year she railed against Facebook for allowing “posers” to hack into her account, and recently reiterated her undying love for all things MySpace. Oh Lindsay. You’re so cute with your big girl opinions and all.
Oprah vs. Sarah Palin
As is the case with virtually any conflict, the whole thing turned out to be just a lack of communication. According to her spokespeople, Sarah Palin did not snub Oprah because the talk-show queen is a vocal supporter of Barack Obama. She’s just too gosh darn busy to make time for arguably the most influential woman in the world.
Sarah Palin vs. Turkeys
Turkeys the world over are plotting revenge after Sarah stood in front of a bird-beheader and sipped her evil latte of death. Or not.
Kanye West vs. Stephen Colbert/Twitter/America
2008 saw America’s biggest ego flip the bird to the entire planet. After losing to Stephen Colbert in an album sales race, Kanye Twittered that he didn’t know who the *@&# Colbert was. Then he claimed the post was from an imposter, then his album proceeded to fail, then he tried to wear some more creepy sunglasses, and then the world started to not care.
