Scientologists told to watch but not read about Tom Cruise.

A strange new report has emerged that followers of Scientology are also instructed to be followers of Tom Cruise. Apparently Cruise is considered an "exhileration" in the religion, or one of the highest influentials on what they refer to as their "tone scale."

In the new book Blown For Good, a former Scientologist reveals that followers of the faith were told not to read newspapers, but were given edited footage of Tom Cruise giving interviews. Author Marc Headley says, "Everyone [in the church] thought Tom Cruise was just brilliant. Absolutely all the employees looked up to him ... People who work within the organization were not given access to newspapers or television shows. The only thing we knew was what we were told or shown." Headley further reveals that the coverage followers saw of Tom Cruise was highly selective -- he states: "At the International Headquarters, they would record any appearances on TV shows or even mentions of Tom Cruise, or little stories they heard about him. Then they would re-edit them and cut them together into a five- or 10-minute video of all the snippets of him on TV. But it was never the full interview or story."

What's weirder, this or the fact that three-year-old Suri Cruise still drinks from a bottle? Where the press are concerned, Tom Cruise continues to have a very rough go of things.
