Seth MacFarlane to Reboot 'The Flintstones'

Fred Flintstone, meet Peter Griffin. Raunchy cartoon guru and 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane is set to produce a remagining of 'The Flintstones' in a new show on Fox.

Macfarlane will get his hands on the iconic Hanna-Barbera cartoon and will do his best to update it for today's, erm, matured audiences.
"'The Flintstones' are among the funniest and most beloved characters in television history, and we can't wait to introduce them to a whole new generation on Fox," said Kevin Reilly, Fox's president of entertainment.
Macfarlane, 37, is most famous for creating and voicing many of the characters on the hit animated series 'Family Guy,' as well as 'American Dad' and 'The Cleveland Show.'

A staple of television during the '60s, 'The Flintstones' followed rock-breaker Fred Flintstone, his red-head, shell-wearing wife Wilma and their friends Barney and Betty Rubble.
The prehistoric cartoon has been adapted before, most notably in the terribly unfunny 1994 live-action film starring John Goodman, Rick Moranis and Rosie O'Donnell.
