Shannen Doherty Alerted Authorities to Suicidal Tweeter

Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty called 911 after reading a fan's suicidal tweets. Did the formerly bitchy Brenda save a life?

The actress called New Jersey's Westampton Township Police Department when a female fan threatened to kill herself.

The 27-year-old fan made the suicidal threat on Twitter Sunday night, saying she'd kill herself if Doherty didn't call her.

Police did track the woman down at her home, where she appeared to be fine.

Doherty later tweeted, "Thank you to the Westampton police department for being diligent and so reassuring."

She added, "Police wasn't for me, was a girl on here who needed their help."

In 2009, Demi Moore also helped out a suicidal Twitter fan.

It's hard to know what to believe on Twitter -- was the fan just being overly dramatic or did Doherty have real cause to get authorities involved? Guess she figured it was better to be safe than sorry.
