Shia LaBeouf, Johansson rumored for 'Wettest' Film
Let's have a drink.
Making and selling booze during the Prohibition was a dangerous job. In the upcoming movie The Wettest County in the World, a group of brothers forms a dangerous gang around the illegal moonshine trade, and quite a few Hollywood actors want a part of it.
The story itself is based on a book by Matt Bondurant, whose grandfather and two great-uncles started the criminal gang during the Depression. The story also follows author Sherwood Anderson, who was working as a journalist and covering the story.
Among the big-name Hollywood actors interested in joining the project are Shia LaBeouf, Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Gosling and Paul Dano (of There Will be Blood fame). All are reportedly attracted to a script that apparently offers some serious acting roles.
The movie, from The Road directo John Hillcoat, was actually set up to start production a year and a half ago, but the film's studio, Columbia Pictures, pulled the plug. Now, with a number of young, major Hollywood actors expressing interest, the film is seeing a second life.
