Simon Cowell Says The Beatles Wouldn't Make 'Idol'
Who does he like?
There are a lot of people who would call The Beatles the greatest rock band ever. But that doesn't mean they're good enough for Simon Cowell. According to the famous sour puss, they wouldn't even have made the cut for American Idol.
As the host for American Idol here in the U.S. and The X Factor across the pond, Cowell has made a name for himself and his cynical, pouty ways. He famously shoots down even the best performers, calling them poor, overrated or even completely talentless.
So what did he have to say when asked if The Beatles would make the American Idol cut? "No."
"We'll take those three but probably lose the drummer," he said, referring to Ringo Starr. Cowell called Starr, who after The Beatles would go on to serve as conductor for Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, "bad news."
Cowell's comments come on the heels of the release of The Beatles: Rock Band video game, as well as a good chance that the extreme popularity of the game will send old Beatles songs back up the music charts.
So in the end, it may not matter at all whether or not a band passes Simon Cowell's judgement. People know good music when they hear it, no matter how loud Simon whines.
