Simon Cowell: Sting is an Idiot
Call the Police
Clearly, Simon Cowell is not very much a Sting fan. But I can't say I blame him considering Sting's criticism of Cowell and his show X Factor. Simon is finally fighting back and it's not pretty. But is pretty hilarious.
Do you remember back in November when Sting freaked out about the X Factor and started spewing criticism about the show and its creator Simon Cowell? If not, let me refresh your memory. He said, "The X Factor is a preposterous show and you have judges who have no recognizable talent apart from self-promotion, advising them (contestants) what to wear and how to look. It is appalling... Basically I was looking at televised karaoke where they conform to stereotypes. It is a soap opera which has nothing to do with music."
Wow. And ouch. First of all, Simon Cowell does have recognizable talent in the form of being able to see and build talent in stars. But whatever, maybe that's just me. Obviously Sting's comments didn't make Simon very happy and now he's fighting back a bit.
In an interview with X Factor co-star Piers Morgan, Simon says, "First of all, anybody who at the age of 60 calls himself Sting is an idiot... I find those kind of people... who come from quite humble beginnings and they're (now) living in these stately homes, professing to know everything about everything in the world, and what the contestants may or may not feel... They can say that because they've got everything they want in their lives, but what they're really saying is anybody else who needs a shot shouldn't be allowed to do it."
That kind of makes sense to us. Of course, Sting has talent, but he found that talent because someone gave him a shot. Which is what shows like the X Factor and American Idol are all about. And he brings up a good point about Sting still calling himself Sting. Hmmm. We wonder how Sting will feel when the X Factor comes to America!
Who's side are you taking on this argument?
