Steve Harvey's '21 Pounds in 21 Days' Crazy Diet
The "21 pounds in 21 days" diet controversial in nutrition world.
Steve Harvey's been a busy man, and recent web chatter suggests the stress is catching up with him. Think being an author and the host of "Family Feud" and your own radio show don't affect your health? Think again. Comedian Steve Harvey has revealed that he needs to lose some weight, fast -- but his 21 pounds in 21 days diet has a slim chance of working.
The 21 pounds in 21 days diet is all juice-based, with fruit and vegetables blended into liquid form for consumption. For the entire three weeks that a dieter is on the diet, they're supposed to actually chew nothing. Fifty-three-year-old Steve Harvey's giving it a whirl -- literally, in the blender -- but is facing tons of criticism as a result.

The 21 pounds in 21 days has a mass following with its own Facebook page where folks who try it can share their experiences. The experience is not at all worth it, say nutritionists, as the diet deprives the body of critical nutrients and invites weight to come back after the 21 days are up.
Anne Fletcher, MS, RD told the "New York Daily News": "You can't live on a diet like this because it simply does not have adequate calories or protein ... Not only does protein make you feel full longer, but solid food makes you full longer."

Celeb nutritionist Christine Avanti adds why she thinks the 21 pounds in 21 days diet makes no sense: "Where is the fiber if everything is all blended up?" Avanti says. "And fruit drinks can cause blood sugar to spike."
Avanti adds that when a person deprives their body of nutrition and calories so severely, the weight will come back on as soon as they go back to more normal eating.
