Steve Phillips' Scary Affair with Assistant Brooke Hundley
Going, going, gone.
ESPN analyst and former Mets general manager Steve Phillips has opened up to police about his sordid affair with Brooke Hundley, a much younger production assistant who, after their breakup, stalked and terrified the Phillips family.
In a series of events straight out of "Fatal Attraction," Hundley, 22, apparently couldn't take it when Phillips, 46, terminated their relationship. So she went on a rampage.
"This woman has clearly displayed erratic behavior and delusional tendencies," said a letter written by Phillips to the police. "She has shown up at our house. She has taken on the identity of at least two people (minors) to violate our son (a minor). Despite the fact she has been spoken to by a police detective I have extreme concerns about the health and safety of my wife, my kids and myself."
The saga began last summer when Phillips and Hundley slept together on at least three occasions, and spoke with each other via text messages. But when Phillips broke off the relationship, Hundley became unstable. She started calling his wife repeatedly, saying "I care about Steve, I make him happy and we both can't have him!"
She also used ESPN's computers to pose as a high school friend of Phillips' 16 year-old son on Facebook. Then, after leaving a letter to Phillips' wife detailing their love for each other, Hundley sped away and lost control of her car, smashing into a stone pillar.
Now, Phillips' story has been brought to light in the ESPN organization and word has come down that he will be suspended for a week. He is also being divorced by his wife, the mother of his four sons.
Despite the terror she caused the family, Phillips has declined to file charges against Hundley.
