Henry Cavill feels so settled with his new role as Superman that he's ready to settle down at home, too. Cavill, who will star in the upcoming "Superman: Man of Steel" series, has proposed to British Olympian Ellen Whitaker -- check out her response.

Henry Cavill was born in the exotic Channel Islands of the English Channel. The British actor is known for his role on HBO's "The Tudors" and also recently landed the role as Clark Kent/Superman in Warner Bros. upcoming "Superman: Man of Steel."

They say when a fella feels like he's on his way in his career, he'll probably feel ready to settle down. That seems to be the case with Henry Cavill, who has just proposed to British equestrian pro Ellen Whitaker. Whitaker, who's set to compete in the 2012 Olympics, was visiting Henry Cavill in Hollywood when he popped the question. She told reporters she was completely stunned by Henry's proposal: "I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him," she told "The Belfast Telegraph." Why the shock? Whitaker explained, "I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy."
