Taylor Swift Isn't Competing With Miley Cyrus
Better to have friends than competition
Maybe it's because it seems like they came along at the same time. Or maybe it's because they're both young singers. Or it could be the whole dating Jonas Brothers deal. Whatever the case, Taylor Swift wants you to know she is not competitive with Miley Cyrus.
Really, if you confuse Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, you're clearly not listening closely enough. They're not really a whole lot alike besides the fact they're both young girl singers of country-type music. And they're not even very close in age. Miley Cyrus is a mere 16 years old, while Taylor Swift is 19. At that age, 3 years is a world of difference.
But still, people think because they have similar careers, they must be competing. Taylor insists this is not the case. She says, "I've always approached this from the place where I don't compete with other girls. I don't compete with other people in the industry. I compete with myself... If I looked at every other girl in the entertainment industry as competition, my life would be really lonely." Good point, Taylor.
Plus, in case you haven't noticed, Taylor, Miley, and other teen singer Selena Gomez are actually friends. Taylor says, "It's really awesome to get to hang out with those girls and to call them friends."
