Taylor Swift Sues An Idaho Bar
Taylor Swift suing after a sting operation.
Taylor Swift takes music pirating and copyright infringement very seriously...so seriously, in fact, that the law got involved when a secret agent entered a bar in Idaho that was playing Swift's music without paying royalties. The agent totally busted the bar, and now Taylor Swift is about to cash in.
No, it's not a lot of money, but that's not the point. The Sports Cellar was ripping off Taylor Swift's music without paying rights fees, and they were even using it for karaoke. Her music publisher BMI is now enforcing royalties rules.
.
Swift and BMI are taking the Sports Cellar to small claims court to shake out what's due. In 2008 when it's said the sting took place, the chump change might have mattered to Swift, but as another site noted, what Taylor Swift will get today is probably "small potatoes" compared to her salary.
