The Betty White Death Hoax Explained
Source exposed as TMZ imposter.
Betty White is Queen of the Headlines these days, with her petitioned SNL appearance sounding likely and the comment Robert Pattinson made on The View about her being one of the sexiest women alive. So why did a site make a false claim that she died from drugs on Tuesday night? Fans are demanding answers.
Celebrity death hoaxes are one of our least favorite topics and it's actually odd to see one executed in the middle of the week -- we've observed that they often take place on Friday nights, in preparation for weekend buzz. But indeed a site called Oh No They Didn't posted a screenshot of what appeared to be a TMZ story stating that Betty White had died of a drug overdose and foul play.
Meanwhile our friends at PopEater (who have the full scoop) say there's no story of this nature anywhere on TMZ. It looks like a prankster at Oh No They Didn't fabricated the screenshot, and from what we can tell, it's now been removed as Betty White fans curse Oh No They Didn't, saying they hope Golden Girls' character Sophia Petrillo haunts the un-quality blog.
So here you have it: Betty White is alive and well. Reports claim she's responding to Robert Pattinson's sexy remark, saying, "Now THAT is a comedy line!" And in more Betty White news, we hear she's going to be hosting SNL after all...way to petition, people!
