The Obamas' TV Habits Revealed
Kids Don't Watch Weekday TV
It's weird to think about President Obama relaxing in front of the TV in the White House, but we can assure you that when he does, he is not watching Jersey Shore. A recent interview with the family confirmed that they are fairly conservative about their shows of choice, and that the kids don't get to watch whenever they want.
While the President and the First Lady stick to a lot of sports, their children, Sasha and Malia (8 and 11, respectively) have two choices: Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel.
"They can only watch the kid-TV channels for the most part, because you just never know," Mrs. Obama told PEOPLE.
The President added that "Unless they want to watch football with me, which they're always welcome. But somehow they haven't been drawn to that yet." President Obama even watches ESPN's SportsCenter when he's working out in the a.m. with the First Lady, saying that "Michelle actually knows her sports, which is important in our marriage."
During the week, Sasha and Malia can't watch any television at all. "We're pretty strict about that," said the President. Is that unusually strict for 2010, or is that still pretty common? I suppose that if your dad is the president, you have plenty of other cool stuff to do, anyway!
With a spot of TV helping the Obamas unwind, they're indulging in their favorite treats post-dinner, made by the pastry chef in the White House.
"If you even hint that banana cream pie is one of your favorites," says the president. "Got to resist."
