The Righteous Path- Song of the Day
A few years ago, if you had told me I'd fall absolutely in love with an alternative country/southern rock band called the "Drive-By Truckers," I would have told you you were crazy. And now, well, I'm in love.
The Drive-By Truckers are just plain fun. They have amazing voices, their lyrics are incredibly powerful, they drink too much, and they put on an awesome show. What's not to love? They have a ton of songs I'd love to label "Song of the Day," but today I'm sticking with "Righteous Path" from their latest album Brighter Than Creation's Dark.
The song is about trying to do the right thing no matter what life throws your way or what temptations it might bring. "We're trying to hold steady on the righteous path/80 miles an hour with a worn out map/No time for self-pity or self-righteous crap/Just trying to stay focused on the righteous pat." For a bunch of tough southern guys (and a girl), they offer pretty powerful messages. And sound good doing it.
Today's pick- "Righteous Path" by the Drive-By Truckers
