'The Road,' 'Princess and the Frog' Lead Weekend Releases
The best movies headed toward a theater near you.
With the holidays upon us in full-force, it may be time to take a break from all the turkeys, trees and tinsel. Lucky for you, there's a brand new batch of movies out this weekend, including The Road and The Princess and the Frog, and each one is hoping to catch your Christmas spirit.
Viggo Mortensen's The Road, based on the incredible novel from Cormac McCarthy, may not offer up typical Christmas warmth, but it sure as heck will make you appreciate your loved ones when you get back home. The film follows a father and son as they struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Charlize Theron plays the mother who appears in flashbacks.
If witnessing Armageddon doesn't put you in the holiday spirit, what about an old-school Disney film? The Princess and the Frog is a throwback to the hand-drawn days of The Little Mermaid, and features Disney's first black princess. Set among the bayous of New Orleans, the films is a clever twist on the old forg prince fable.
For the action-lover comes Ninja Assassin, a tale about, well, ninja assassins. There's also the goofball family comedy Old Dogs, with John Travolta and Robin Williams, or Me and Orson Welles, about a young actor (played by Zac Efron) who lands a job with the famous director.
