Maybe the Vatican just doesn't like Robert Pattinson?

We're starting to believe the Vatican is anti-Robert Pattinson. OK, so maybe it's just the movies Robert Pattinson is in, but first the Vatican spoke out against the Harry Potter movies, and now they're saying they're not fans of New Moon.

You're probably wondering how anyone couldn't be a fan of New Moon, right? Well, the Vatican wasn't a fan of the first Twilight movie and they're certainly not a fan of the second one. The film is described as "nothing more than a moral vacuum with a deviant message and as such is something that should be of concern" by Monsignor Franco Perazzolo of the Pontifical Council of Culture. A deviant moral vacuum? We think that's just crazy!

He continues: "This theme of vampires in Twilight combines a mixture of excesses that as ever is aimed at young people and gives a heavy -esoteric element... Men and women are transformed with horrible masks and it is once again that age-old trick or ideal formula of using extremes to make an impact at the box office."

OK, so we get why the Roman Catholic Church isn't exactly the biggest fan of Twilight, but really? We're pretty sure most people who enjoy Twilight see it as a form of entertainment (and major eye candy). Yes, the box office always uses to formula of creating extremes, but it's a movie, so why should it really matter?

Will you take the Vatican's concerns into consideration when considering Twilight? Or will you simply watch the movie to be entertained and enjoy a good love story with some hot celebrities?
