Tiger Woods Leading The Barclays Following Divorce

At Wednesday's presser for The Barclays golf tournament in New Jersey, Tiger Woods admitted that during the process of divorce, golf was a secondary focus to him. Looks like Woods' game has turned around after a very successful first round.

The Barclays 2010 golf tournament saw its first tee-off Thursday morning at Ridgewood Country Club at Paramus, N.J. Tiger Woods shot a 31-34-65, which is a very impressive way to start, especially considering that he tied for 46th place at a recent tournament. "USA Today" reporter Steve DiMeglio tweeted, "Best I've seen Tiger play this year from the 1st tee through the 18th green. He looked like the old Tiger."

Of course mainstream media are crediting Woods' lead with the lighter load on his mind, as his divorce from Elin Nordegren is finally behind him. At Wednesday's press conference for The Barclays, Woods said he was fully committed to his profession again now that his personal life is moving in a new direction. Tiger called golf "my job," and when a reporter asked Tiger if he thinks he deserves the top spot in the PGA after five years in first place, Woods snidely replied, "Say that again? It's been longer than [five years.]"

Woods admitted that his clearer conscience isn't all that's behind his good game at the Barclays -- the tree-lined conditions and challenging greens of Ridgewood Country Club make for fun play. "I think this is a golf course in which a lot of the pros would like to see us play more often," Woods said Wednesday. "It's one of the reasons why they love old, traditional-style golf courses. And this is one of them."
