Tina Fey Wins Emmy for Sarah Palin Impression
Finally proper recognition.
Sarah Palin is the best thing that ever happened to Tina Fey. As an ex-SNL comedian and current star of the hit show 30 Rock, Fey's career took off after her popular Palin impersonations late last year. And now the actress has won an Emmy for her performance.
In the first round of awards on Saturday night, which usually represent the 72 technical categories, Fey won her Emmy for a guest-starring appearance on Saturday Night Live. Her impression of Sarah Palin won widespread acclaim last year as the Vice-Presidential candidate campaigned as Senator John McCain's running mate.
In her acceptance speech, Tina Fey referenced Palin again, who recently left her job as Governor of Alaska.
"Mrs. Palin is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere," she said, "because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs. Palin!"
This is Fey's sixth Emmy win, and she is up for two more at the main show, including best actress in a comedy. Her current gig, 30 Rock, leads all shows at this year's Emmys with 22 nominations. Justin Timberlake is also nominated for his guest-performances on SNL.
