Today Show Hosts a Wedding

When Olympic hopefuls Leigh Daniel and Nick Cordes were told there would be no dating allowed at their track meet, the two couldn't help getting kicked out. They had already fallen in love.

So as millions watched live on TV, the TODAY show arranged the marriage of the two young runners for it's 10th annual wedding celebration. The couple exchanged vows outside the New York studio, in Manhattan's Rockelfeller Center.

“I feel so blessed," Leigh told Nick, "to be standing in front of my best friend, my training partner, soul mate, and to be looking forward to spending the rest of my life by your side."

“I look forward to a life of running with our dogs, eating chicken spinach surprise, hanging out with those that we love and just being together.”

After being pronounced man and wife, the couple held hands and jogged back down the aisle together, straight into the waiting arms of TODAY show hosts Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira.

This was the culmination of weeks worth of viewer voting and planning. TODAY fans had complete control over everything from what the bride and groom would wear, to the actual wedding rings and the honeymoon destination - Australia.

Thankfully, viewers ended up doing a good job. “It was the dress she wanted," said Nick, and "it was the ring she wanted.”

“And the groom she wanted!” said Matt Lauer. Nick laughed and said, “Hopefully, right?”
