Rumormongers fueled a Tom Cruise dead rumor in October 2008, suggesting he'd fallen from Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand. This led to a hasty retort by some religious groups, who spoke up furtively to confirm the actor's health and wellbeing. The rumor sparked worldwide buzz, with media in the United Kingdom and all over Europe searching desperately for confirmation either way.

And now just a year later the origin of the rumor's start is not clear, but we re-confirm: Tom Cruise lives...just look at him here with Katie Holmes and little Suri -- or ask the Scientologists, who are instructed practically to worship him, as we reported on Friday.
