Tom Jones And The Killers Collaboration: The Latest
Update on last week's killer rumored project!
We heard last week that famed pop-and-soul singer Tom Jones, 70, was preparing to collaborate with...the Killers?! In the midst of a nasty label dispute, Jones' people have responded.
Last week it was reported that Welsh longtime crooner Tom Jones had been caught in a conversation with Brandon Flowers, lead singer of the Killers. Based on the reported conversation, rumors popped up that Jones and the Killers were "definitely" planning to work on a song together -- so long as they "found a song they were happy with." Brandon Flowers is also working on his first solo album, which made the Tom Jones duet appear all the more probable; not to mention Jones is set to return to Flowers' hometown, Las Vegas, for a short run of performances next week at the MGM Grand.
But Tom Jones' staff have responded to say that the Tom Jones-Killers collab will not happen -- one of his reps has said, "There are always rumours, and this is one ... All Tom has to do is mention that he's spoken with someone, and it gets taken to another level."

Actually a savvy collaboration such as one with the Killers could seriously help Jones' career, which may be suffering over a battle he's in with Island Records. Apparently Island vice president David Sharpe says that Jones' new album of hymns, called Praise & Blame, is not at all what Island paid $2 million for. Sharpe allegedly said in a leaked email, "I bought a Mercedes and I got a hearse."
