Twilight Director Confirms Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart Romance

Catherine Hardwicke: Rob and Kristen have heated up since Twilight.

If the photo of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart clandestinely holding hands in Paris as they boarded a flight to London Tuesday night wasn't enough confirmation for you that they're an item, get this: Catherine Hardwicke, director of the original Twilight film, is speaking out to say that the stars have confided in her about their relationship. Hardwicke says, "After I cast him, I told Rob, don't even think about having a romance with her ... She's under 18. You will be arrested."

Today, with Kristen Stewart now 19 years old as of last April, things are completely different. Hardwicke says they maintained a professional relationship during Twilight, but with New Moon raising the onscreen temperature between them, their friendship has taken on a new dynamic. Hardwicke says, "In terms of what Kristen told me directly, [the romance] didn't happen on the first movie. Nothing crossed the line while on the first film."

Interesting...so it was the summer apart and the shirtless Rob in Rome that drew Kristen to Rob? Hardwicke affirms that it was only recently when it occurred to Kristen Stewart that she wanted to test the romantic waters with Robert: "I think it took a long time for Kristen to realize, okay, I've got to give this a go and really try to be with this person."
