Twilight Fans are Flocking to Volterra, Italy

When planning a trip to Italy, most people don't include Volterra as one of their destinations. Until now. After reading about it in New Moon, Twilight fans are now flocking to Volterra. They want to see exactly what Edward, Bella, and Alice saw!

And after the New Moon movie comes out, we can only imagine that even more people will want to check out Volterra. In case you're foregetting, Volterra is where the vampire group, the Volturi, live in the Twilight saga. In New Moon, Edward ends up in Volterra and Bella and Alice go after him.

The Volturi live in the Piazza dei Priori, which is the main spot that Twilight fans want to visit while in Volterra. And, of course, Volterra is capitalizing on this sudden interest people are taking to them. They've actually introduced a New Moon weekend package that includes a walking tour called "Hot on the Trail of Edward and Bella." Wow, we love it! They also conduct a dramatic re-enactment of a scene from New Moon and sell Twilight merchandise.

We can't really blame them. They're probably bringing in more money in tourism than they ever have before! According to the head of the Volterra tourism board, "It was a real surprise for us. We didn't expect it... Volterra is a slow city. You have to live in it in a slow way. Our main aim is to direct (visitors) in the city without overrunning it." We hope it's not run over by teenagers and crazy Twilight fans after the movie's release!

The funny thing is that New Moon isn't actually filmed in Volterra. It's filmed about 70 miles away in Montepulciano. But that doesn't stop fans from wanting to visit the place where the Volturi supposedly live.
