Twilight's Stephenie Meyer On Oprah: Video
Stephenie Meyer discussed her dream of Edward Cullen on Oprah.
We were watching live when Oprah's interview with Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer aired on Friday. Meyer flew to Chicago to appear on Oprah's Friday Live episode, meeting a studio of fans on their feet and well-hyped for the November 20 release of New Moon. Meyer took the audience inside her personal life, what inspired Twilight and why her husband must've thought she was "crazy" for embarking on the saga's writing.
Meyer revealed that she started writing Twilight in June 2003 when her three young sons were out of the house and she was starting a new diet. She'd had a dream about a boy and girl in a field, and the boy had sparkles on his skin and was telling the girl how much he loved her but also that he wanted to kill her. On that boy and girl who now play the characters in her dream, Meyer said the following: Robert Pattinson smells good and is hilarious, and she was thrilled when the casting directors scored someone of Kristen Stewart's caliber to play Bella Swan.
The series took her personal life on a very unexpected turn. Stephenie Meyer says she alienated herself from her husband because she feared he'd think she was crazy for writing vampire books. Meyer also said that she'd never written before that, and, guess what: she'd never read horror books either. Stephenie Meyer's appearance on Oprah encourages the notion that anyone living under any circumstance can reach extraordinary accomplishments.
