U2 will serenade Berlin on November 5.

The MTV Europe Music Awards are a massive annual celebration throughout all of Europe, but this year may be the biggest of all.

Event organizers announced early Wednesday morning that U2 will put on a free concert in Berlin on Thursday, November 5, the night of the MTV Europe Music Awards.

The concert will take place in front of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, just days before the 20th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall. The wall created a bloody division between East and West Germany from the Cold War until its destruction in 1989.

The event will help promote their new 2-set CD and DVD The Unforgettable Fire and commemorate the MTV Europe Music Awards, but it's also a celebration of social freedom in Europe. U2's manager Paul McGuinness said, "It'll be an exciting spot to be in, 20 years almost to the day since the wall came down. Should be fun."

Tickets for the show went available for fans to register the morning of Wednesday, October 28 at www.u2.com and www.mtvema.com
