Valerie Opens Up for Health Mag
Valerie Bertinelli has talked so much about her weight loss-- including her two books ont he subject! She's posed in a bikini, done a workout DVD, and ran a half-marathon, so she's certainly qualified to talk to Health magazine about fitness changing her life. Do you find Valerie's weight-loss story motivating?
The petite actress lost 50 pounds using Jenny Craig, and she says that she still craves some special foods. Now that I can relate to! It's actually a daily struggle for Valerie to stay away from trouble foods, and she says that if she didn't allow herself just a nibble of what she craved, she'd go overboard.
Valerie also spoke about her weight loss motivation, saying that it started when she saw herself on the screen after filming Claire. She said that she thought:
"Oh my goodness, who is that ugly, old, fat woman? . . . And that just made me feel terrible," she admitted.
"And ashamed. And I was tired of feeling ashamed. I started to visualize myself, what I knew I could look like - and I didn't want to look like that person on the screen. So I started to picture what I knew I could look like as a healthy, vibrant woman. A couple of months later, Jenny Craig called."
While Valerie complains about having to stay "vigilant" to keep the weight off, she really does look outstanding. She even admitted that "feeling good" is more important to her than "looking good," because feeling good adds a special glow "from within." There's some wisdom for you!
