It's about time!

You want to hear something really tragic? Vanilla Ice's seminal song, Ice Ice Baby, is the best selling rap song of all time. Or at least, it's credited as the song that broke rap music into the mainstream (aka white audiences). He famously stole the bass line from a far superior song to accomplish this, then gave a sincere statement that he really did believe the two bass lines to be nothing alike. But he's finally come to grips with his crimes against music and has offered a very earnest apology.

Sure, the apology is part of a viral marketing campaign by Virgin Moblie's Australia arm, but it's a great step forward for music fans. Other famous white rapper, Eminem, was once quoted as saying this about Vanilla Ice's music career:

"I felt like I didn't want to rap anymore. I was so mad, because he was making it real hard for me."

Harsh, but fair. Vanilla (aka Rob Van Winkle) has endured years of crap for releasing the track, and at least one near-death experience with infamous record mogul Suge Knight, so we're happy to see him take a tongue-in-cheek stab at his 15 minutes of fame.

Next up for the chopping block? We recommend this little mid-90's gem:
