Vatican Claims Homer Simpson is Catholic
I don't think Lisa would agree with this.
The Simpsons are not exactly a model for those who practice a religion. They routinely question the beliefs of the church and its followers, and often turn serious spiritual matters into comedy fodder. Which is exactly why The Vatican has declared Homer Simpson a Catholic.

According to the Vatican's daily newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, the head of the Simpson family is one of their flock.
"Few people know it, and he does everything to hide it, but it is true: Homer J. Simpson is a Catholic," the paper said in a recent article.
But it's not only Homer who the Vatican claims as one of their own. Amazingly, they include notorious trouble-maker Bart as a Catholic as well. The paper even claims the entire family "recites prayers before meals and, in their own peculiar way, believes in the life thereafter."

"The Simpsons are among the few TV programs for children in which Christian faith, religion, and questions about God are recurrent themes," the article states.
Of course, this is all news to the writers and creators of the popular Fox cartoon. Executive producer Al Jean, for one, was shocked to hear The Vatican's declarations about his characters.
"We've pretty clearly shown that Homer is not Catholic," Jean told EW. "I really don't think he could go without eating meat on Fridays—for even an hour."
