Victoria Beckham Chooses Eva Longoria as Godmother
Who Knew Victoria and Eva Were Friends?
Victoria Beckham's an odd duck in general, and when we think about her place in Hollywood, she's still on the periphery. She's a mega-star, and gets to go to the best places, but she doesn't pal around with many of the American La-La Land regulars off the red carpet. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that Eva Longoria -- of all people -- will be godmother to Beckham's unborn baby girl.

OK! magazine's U.K. division points out that the two have been "friends for years," and that they've only grown closer through Longoria's marital struggles. A scandal (like a high-profile divorce, for instance) will help you realize who's got your back and Longoria's appreciated every minute of her bosom buddy status with Beckham. And, with no children of her own yet, Longoria's likely to be shamelessly doting on her new goddaughter.
The Beckhams' little girl isn't due until July 4th, which gives the Desperate Housewife star a couple of weeks to stock up on all sorts of gear for the baby. Pink explosion, anyone? As the Beckham's fourth child but first girl, we're sure that the indulgences will be mind-boggling.

As for the name? Last we heard, the Beckham kids wanted to honor their idolisation of Justin Bieber and name their sister "Justine Bieber Beckham." No word if Victoria Beckham humored them on that one, but judging from her children's names -- Romeo, Cruz, and Brooklyn -- we're in for a creative moniker at least.
Longoria's joining an exclusive Beckham godparenting club with Liz Hurley and Elton John as card-carrying members. With Beckham's July 4th due date creeping up, Eva Longoria doesn' have too long to compare notes. We recommend she do more doting than educating, and everything will turn out fine. Then again, this being the Beckhams' first girl, who knows how much quality time Longoria will be able to log in the beginning?
