Interns making big bucks working for the social network

Ahh, Facebook; Millions of people around the world use it multiple times daily to connect with friends (?) and family and it's clearly become an integral part of our day-to-day lives in the 2000s. And, although its shakey IPO has shown that that Mark Zuckerberg's brainchild isn't quite as invincible as folks thought, there's a group of young workers at FB's Northen California headquarters who're doing just fine, thank you very much. Facebook interns make a LOT of moola.

Hypothetically speaking, if you were to land a summer job as a software engineer intern for the company, you would be able to afford celebratory drinks every night after work -- The average monthly pay for this position is over $6,000, according to Glassdoor.com.

Slater Tow, a spokesman for Facebook, told ABC News that the company also grants quite a few amenities to their employees and interns, including an iPhone, access to a gym, a laptop, and this reporter's personal favorite, three meals daily.

The icing on the cake is that Facebook will also pay interns a $1,000 monthly stipend for housing, a much better bonus than receiving an online "poke" from Mark Zuckerberg. It's no wonder that Forbes.com ranked an internship at Facebook as one of the 20 best paying such gigs back in January 2012, coming in third place.

And, Facebook isn't the only online presence that is paying big bucks, as evidenced by the salary of a software engineer interns for Google's San Jose, Calif. location: $7,000 a month (on average).

Sweet work if you can get (do) it.
