Whitney Houston Brings Down the House at AMAs: Video
She's the Queen of the Night.
Last night's American Music Awards may have been dominated by scandolous dance moves, silly costumes and rear-end up-ends, but ultimately the evening belonged to Whitney Houston. The iconic singer completed her comeback to the music world with a gimmick-less rendition of her popular single, "I Didn't Know My Own Strength."
Singing without the help of shiny bells and whistles in the background, Houston's voice rang true at last night's award ceremony. The song, which is the third single from her latest album I Run To You, was orignally written by Diane Warren.
After the performance ended, Houston was presented with the International Artist award, an achievement earned by only ten artists so far. Actor Samuel L. Jackson handed her the pyramid statue and admitted he had been a long time fan.
"Thank you to my daughter. I love you dearly. To my momma, Clive, Arista, to my fans, everybody who loves me and stood by me... thank you and god bless you," said Houston.
