Woman Finds Diamond Ring in Pants She Bought at Goodwill
Minnesota Woman Looking for Owner of Ring Found in Goodwill Pants
Don't you love a really great find or deal?
One woman found a great deal at Goodwill -- a $3.99 pair of pants with a diamond ring in the pocket!
The ring's value? Between $5,000 and $6,500!
The Minnesota woman purchased the pair of capri pants on her daughter's advice, as she told her mom she might like them because they were bedazzled with "bling."
Turns out Deb Thompson got more than she bargained for when she discovered the diamond ring in one of the pockets after bringing the pants home.
Thompson told ABC News, "I took the ring out of my pocket and I sat on the floor with my daughter and her fiance. I put my arm out in the center, and I opened it in my palm and we all just went, ‘Wow. Oh my God.'"
She had it appraised by a jeweler, who found it be worth between $5,000 and $6,500.
Thompson has been trying to track down the owner, working with Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota, who posted a Facebook message about the found ring.
Lisa Ritter, the marketing director of Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota, told the Daily News, "This is truly a good Samaritan story. We have 2 million visitors go through our donation drive-throughs every year."
Goodwill received 30 inquiries, but Ritter notes, "We have to get some of our due diligence done" to find the rightful owner.
Thompson is intent on finding the owner, explaining to KSTP-TV, "I need to find the owner, and I'd love to hear the story of how it got in there."
