There's such a thing as human leather
.

Website Advertises "Human Leather" Products

From the deepest, darkest corners of WTF Land, comes this disgusting tidbit -- human leather exists and one website is marketing products made from human skin. Grab a bucket, this could make you queasy.

Seriously, you may want to hold off on eating a meal while reading this one.

While the use of human leather seems like something Hannibal Lechter would think up, a UK company is proudly selling their human skin products to buyers willing to spend a pretty penny.

The company, called Human Leather, says it's a retailer of "exclusive real human leather products."

The fact that something like this exists blows my mind. The fact that someone would purchase such products is unimaginable.

But obviously there must be a market of weirdos with big bank accounts who can afford items like a $14,000 wallet or $27,000 shoes crafted from the finest human skin.

Human Leather's website claims they produce "exquisite and exclusive products for an extremely discerning clientele".

I'm not so sure "discerning" is the adjective I had in mind.

It's all pretty well on the hush-hush as you would imagine -- no product pictures are included on the site, nor is there any contact information beyond an email address.

Their FAQ page has all the details about the ... um ... materials they use, describing that the products "are made from real full thickness human skin. Just like animal leather products, produced from lesser animals, our raw human skin is transformed into the finest grade human leather by using a traditional tanning process. However, human leather is the finest grain leather that is obtainable."

Ew.

Human Leather does not carry stock items, but rather has individual commission orders. They note that "due to the limited size of the lengths that we work with, we are limited to what items we can fashion out of the leather."

How do they obtain the material? They explain, "Human Leather is produced from skin sourced from normal everyday people. These people have bequeathed their skin to us prior to their death."
