You CAN Wear White After Labor Day!
Forget the rules!
I've always hated that old "no white after Labor Day" rule. After all, I always thought white clothing looked best against the winter wonderland of snow. But I'm forever fearful to wear pure white pants, shoes, coats, etc. any time after Labor Day. But can all that finally change?
There was a segment on the Today Show a couple weeks ago all about how to make white work after labor day. And now I'm been reading up on the topic trying to make sure I can pull it off without getting dirty looks and worse, looks that say, "aww that poor girl never learned the rules."
So, I'm loving the fact that some of the leading fashion experts are telling us to forget the rules this year and to wear white all year long.
Here are some tips we've gathered on how to best pull of wearing white after labor day and slowly disseminating the rules:
* Wear white pants with a nice sturdy boot. And a dark-colored blazer or sweater for the perfect autumn look.
* Just make sure those white pants aren't linen. Linen pants should not be worn after summer, no matter their color.
* Wear a pretty white coat, but make sure you pair it with a pair of darker pants and darker accessories (hat, gloves, shoes, etc.).
* Wear white accessories like winter hats, gloves, and scarves with a darker jacket.
You have no idea how excited I am to keep wearing my white pants all winter long! This makes letting go of the summer just a little bit easier.
