Adam Lambert was a shoo-in. From the start of American Idol season 8, it was clear he was going to win. But last night when Ryan Seacrest announced the winner, it was Kris Allen who got the title. So, what happened? It seems that there's some confusion over what the title of American Idol means. Should it go to the best singer? Or should it go to the person Americans most want to be like? There's really no doubt that Adam Lambert was the best singer from this season's American Idol. And probably even the best singer American Idol has ever seen. But Americans voted Kris Allen as their American Idol. People were shocked; even Kris looked shocked. Simon look almost appalled. He liked Kris, but knew Adam was the best singer. So why did Kris Allen win? Well, he's certainly likeable. He's cute and has a beautiful and versatile voice. He's going to be amazingly marketable and probably won't have any trouble selling records. Americans like him.
