7 Surprisingly Legal Drugs
Demi Moore Hospitalized After Doing "Whippets." What Are They?
From booze to blow to bath salts, people will do whatever it takes to get high. Yet while the most dangerous drugs like heroin and cocaine are illegal, there are plenty of legal substances the FDA has yet to catch on to.
TheDailyBeast.com has assembled a list of 7 drugs that still happen to be legal in the United States. Here are a few you may not have heard of.
Salvia - A plant native to the highlands of southern Mexico, Salvia produces a disassociative effect when smoked that falls somewhere between marijuana and LSD, but the "high" reportedly only lasts half an hour or so. Just ask Miley Cyrus.
Nitrous Oxide - Otherwise known as "Whippets," Demi Moore knows these inhalants all too well. The actress was recently hospitalized after using the drug, a dangerous gas which is sold in small metal canisters.
Bath Salts - With street names like Ivory Wave, White Lightning and Vanilla Sky, this over-the-counter drug (it's not actually bath salt) contains mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone, also known as MDPV, which can cause euphoria but also hallucinations, paranoia and psychosis.
