A fashionable farewell

It's bittersweet. We're sure everyone in the fashion world was thrilled to be seeing Alexander McQueen's collection; but also incredibly sad that he wasn't there. And it was his very last collection.

Alexander McQueen had a collection of 15 ready-to-wear pieces almost ready to show when he passed away. But instead of going through all the fanfare and craziness of the runway at Paris Fashion Week, McQueen's last collection was shown in a private, quiet room.

Every piece in the collection was designed and cut by McQueen himself and after his death, his team only had to put the finishing touches on them. According to chief executives, Alexander's last collection was inspired by the masters of old world painting. It was filled with feathers, Venetian capes, and deep colors; and served to remind us what the future could have held for Alexander McQueen.

During the showing, nobody spoke and lots of tears were shed. Though it certainly won't be the same, we're all incredibly happy Alexander McQueen's label will go on.
