America's Craziest Cities Revealed
Psychiatrists, Stress, Eccentricity, Drinking Studied
The Daily Beast has been digging around in America's craziest corners, and now they've revealed the cities they think are the wildest in the country. How does your city rank amongst the 57th largest metropolitan areas in the States? I thought mine was way crazier than The Daily Beast makes it out to be. I'm not sure if I'm happy or disappointed.
The top craziest city? You might be surprised, it's Cinncinati. By studying psychiatrists, stress, eccentricity, and drinking levels, Cinncinati pulled out ahead, but New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas all showed up on the top ten as well.
"Keep Austin Weird-the famous slogan from Austin, Texas, was conceived as a marketing tool, but it's grown for some into a mantra. And why not? It's been a rough couple of years. Those that don't embrace a bit of zaniness risk having it consume them," muses The Daily Beast.
Sprinkled amongst the major players are definitely some surprises, like Milwaukee (home of the Big Mac Enthusiast); Tuscon, Arizona; and Providence, Rhode Island. Weirdness reigns supreme in San Francisco (#2) and Austin (#12), where creativity's always in style.
The best part about the list is the weird laws and facts about each location. Did you know that it;'s illegal in Florida to sell oranges on the sidewalk? Or that in Cleveland, women are not allowed to wear patent leather shoes, because men might see they underwear reflected in their shoes? Crazytown.
Where does your city rank?
